Michael Salela joined Cole Taylor Business Capital in 2009 as Senior Vice President, most recently filling the role of underwriting manager. In 2012, he was promoted to Group Senior Vice President and took on a new role as Business Development Officer, with responsibility for sourcing and originating middle market asset based loans, predominantly in Illinois and Indiana.

Mr. Salela has more than 20 years experience in financial services, including ten years at LaSalle Bank’s (Bank of America) nationally-ranked asset based lending group. As underwriting manager of LaSalle Business Credit, he was responsible for assisting in the growth of the business and closing transactions originated throughout the country. During his time at LaSalle Business Credit and Bank of America, which acquired LaSalle in 2007, Mr. Salela also served as loan officer, underwriter, relationship manager and business development officer. Mr. Salela began his career in financial services at Heller Financial in the late 1980’s. He held various positions of increasing responsibility in various lending groups for about a 10 year period, including field examiner and account executive in an asset based lending group. He moved on to Fremont Financial as an account executive before joining LaSalle Bank in 1999.

Mr. Salela is a current member the Association for Corporate Growth, the Turnaround Management Association and the Commercial Finance Association.

He has a B.S. in Finance from Northern Illinois University.
